Bowling Green, KY – The Patriots women's lacrosse team has won their seventh straight season opener with a 20-3 win over Shorter.  One standout performance was junior Stephanie Meyer, who had a career offensive output and for her efforts she was named the MSC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Meyer notched a career-high six assists and eight points in the season-opener. Meyer added a goal and dished out two assists in the first quarter as Cumberlands jumped out to an early lead.  The junior added her second goal late in the second quarter to extend the lead to 11-2.  Meyer facilitated the Patriots offense assisting on three straight goals in the third quarter. 

It was her fifth multi-assist game of her career as she surpassed her previous career-high of three assists, which she notched four times.  The six assists in a game are tied for fourth most in a single game in the program history. 

Meyer added four caused turnovers and scooped four ground balls as well in the game.  This marks the first time Meyer has been named the offensive player of the week and her second time earning a weekly honor.

The Patriots will return to the field Tuesday, February 15, when they host Brenau at 3 p.m.
