Smyrna, TN – The women's bowling team had five bowlers compete at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship Sectionals Friday afternoon. The Patriots just missed out on an individual qualifier as Allysen Coryell finished ninth through six games today. To make the finals, you must place top-six.
 
Coryell had one of her best performances of the year, not bowling a game below 180. She bowled three games above 200, finishing strong with a day-high 234 in the final game. The sophomore finished the day with a total pinfall of 1222 for an average of 203.67 pins per game, missing out on top-six by just 19 pins.
 
Michayla Shannon and Haleigh Lawwell were the second and third Patriots finishers on Friday. Shannon tallied 1056 pins over her six games for a 77^th place finish. Her best score of 204 came in the fifth game, and she averaged 176 pins per ten frames on the day. Lawwell finished 93^rd with a pinfall of 1029, averaging 171.5 through six games. Her best performance came in game three where she bowled a 212.
 
Erika Taylor and Kiara Abanto rounded out UC's finishers after the first day. Taylor 96^th with 1024 pins while Abanto placed 105^th with 1010. Taylor came out of the gate hot with a score of 201 in her first game, and bested that performance in game six where she bowled a 207. Abanto also bowled two games over 200 on the day, scoring 203 in the third game, and 200 in the last game.
 
The Patriots will return to action tomorrow as the team portion of the tournament begins. They will have 32 baker games on Saturday, followed by 32 more on Sunday.
