Patriots Take Second Place, Murube Wins First Tournament of the Season

Columbia, KY- Competing for the first time in three weeks, the UC men's golf team notched a second place finish at the Blue Raider Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Across three rounds, Cumberlands finished with a combined score of 865 (+25) which was 12 strokes behind first place. Juan Murube led the way for the Patriots, finishing in first place on the individual leaderboard.

Murube carded a three round score of 208 (-2) to tally his first tournament win of the spring. Across 54-holes at the tournament, the Seville, Spain native shot eight birdies, thirty-eight pars, and an eagle to help lead him to his first place finish. The senior's eagle came during his final hole in round two, which led him to his best score of the tournament which was a 67 (-3).

Gustav Barden earned his first top-ten finish of the spring, finishing in seventh place on the individual leaderboard. The Karlstad, Varmland native's best round came during the third round of the tournament where he carded a 68 (-2), which was the lowest third round score for the Patriots. Across three rounds of the tournament, the sophomore carded a 217 (+7).

Tyler Hart tallied his first top-15 finish since the fall of 2019. Across three rounds at the Blue Raider Invitational, Hart notched a final score of 222 (+12) to finish 14th overall on the individual leaderboard. The sophomore's best round came during round one of the tournament where he shot a 71 (+1).

Jarryd Elliott earned a share of 17th on the individual leaderboard after carding a 225 (+15) across three rounds in Columbia, KY. Over 54-holes at the tournament Witbank, South Africa native 25 pars and nine birdies, which was the most of any Patriot during the tournament.

Rounding out the top-five for UC was Imanol Camba. The junior finished with a three round score of 226 (+16), to finish with a share of 22nd on the individual leaderboard. The Bilbao,Spain native's best round came during rounds one and three of the tournament, where he carded a 75 (+5) during both rounds. This marks Camba's highest finish of the spring.

Competing as individuals at the Blue Raider Invitational was Jaime Crispi, Jose Andres Cortes Hurtado, and Luis Fernando Ruiz Recuero. Crispi led all individuals at the tournament with a tied for eighth place finish overall. Across three rounds, the freshman shot a 218 (+8) to lead him to a top-ten finish.

Ruiz finished with a share of 22nd on the individual leaderboard, after carding a 226 (+16) across 54-holes at the tournament. The junior's best round came during rounds one and two, where he notched a 75 (+5) during both rounds of the tournament. Rounding out the individuals, Cortes finished tied for 27th on the individual leaderboard. Across three rounds at the tournament, the Badajoz, Spain native finished with a combined score of 227 (+17).

Cumberlands returns to the course next week, as the head down to compete in the Monument Gold Oldfield Classic in Beaufort, SC on March 27 and 28.
