Bowling Green, KY – After pitching in a pair of wins over top-20 teams, Talli Burgess earned Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference officials on Monday.

On the week, Burgess pitched in 8.1 innings where she limited hitters to just three hits, one run while striking out 11 batters. The 11 K's now give the Crandall, Ga native 50 on the season and 147 in her two seasons with the Pats.

The batters Burgess faced, were part of two of the best offenses in the NAIA coming into the week. In her first appearance she faced #20 Milligan who was averaging 7.19 runs per game and 9.13 hits per game. She gave up no runs and just two hits in her 4.2 innings of work that helped propel UC for the 2-1 win.



She then had the tough task of facing #14 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday who came in ranked in the top-10 for the NAIA in 15 categories including first in doubles and second in total bases. But the arm of Burgess held the Grizzlies to just one double in her 3.2 innings, which was also the only hit she gave up against GGC. The sophomore struck out five batters, tying the third most she has tallied in a single game this season. Her efforts mark her fourth win of the season, tying her for second most on the team.

This season, Burgess has compiled a 2.29 ERA in 47.2 innings of work. She leads the pitching staff with her 50 K's and has held opposing hitters to a .202 batting average and 41 hits, both are the lowest among starters on UC's staff.

This marks the third time in Burgess' career she has been tabbed the MSC Pitcher of the Week. She joins Meryn Livingston as the two Patriots to garner a MSC weekly award this season.

After taking the week off from Mid-South Conference play, UC will return to conference action on Friday, March 25 when they begin their series against Shawnee State, at home. The first game is slated for a 4PM start with live video found here and live stats here.
