Cumberlands Remains Ranked Third in NAIA Coaches Poll

Kansas City, MO – The Cumberlands men's lacrosse team earned 58 points to remained ranked third in the NAIA Top-10 Coaches Poll announced by the national office Wednesday. The Patriots have wins over team that are ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA top-ten poll.

Cumberlands is 6-1 on the season and improved to 3-0 in AAC play after the two wins last week, including a 10-4 win over then second-ranked Keiser marking UC's first win over a top-two ranked opponent since February 19, 2019 when UC defeated #1 Reinhardt.

UC has been stellar on the defensive end of the field limiting opponents to 5.92 goals per game, which ranks third in the NAIA.   The Patriots are ranked second in the NAIA in caused turnovers on the year with 114, while their 272 ground balls are tied for fourth most.  Cumberlands is led by Jake Morgan, who leads the NAIA with 23 caused turnovers as Tate Crowell is ranked eighth with 12 caused turnovers.  Will Settle, the reigning NAIA Defensive Player of the Week has a .645 save percentage and has made 60 saves.

Offensively, UC has five players with double-digit point totals as Cumberlands top three scorers have all reached milestones this season.  Dylan Crouch leads the way with 16 goals, 17 assists, and 33 points, while Christian Vanover and Thomas Fogarty have tallied 28 and 22 points, respectfully.  Crouch became the first Patriot to surpass 200 career points, while Vanover and Fogarty clipped the 100 point milestone so far this season.  Nik Kubik has won 55.8% of his faceoffs and scooped a team-high 37 ground balls.
 
St. Ambrose earned 66 points to move atop the poll, while Indiana Tech moves to second with 62 points.  Keiser and Aquinas round out the top-five, while Reinhardt, Webber, and Tennessee Wesleyan are in the top-ten.
 
Cumberlands will return to the field tonight as they look to remain unbeaten in AAC play when they take on SCAD.  The game is set for 5 p.m. with live stats available here and live video available here.
