Bowling Green, KY – Coming off of another strong week of performances in which she set a career-high for assists and points, Patriots
Trinity Brown has been named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Monday. It marks the second straight week and third time this season that the junior has garnered this award.
Brown opened the week with 12 draw controls and a pair of ground balls against Thomas More. The Fayetteville, GA native has scooped at least ten draw controls in four of the last five games. Brown was a key part of the UC backline that held the Saints to just two goals in the game.
She followed that up with eight draw controls, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls in the 23-4 win over Marian. Brown also dished out a career-high three assists and converted her lone shot for a goal for four points offensively as well. Late in the first quarter Brown forced a turnover and assisted the transition goal to
Reegan Hensley. The junior added two assists and a goal over the next two quarters.
Brown leads the conference and is ranked in the NAIA with 91 draw controls, while her 30 caused turnovers is ranked fourth in the NAIA. She also has 24 ground balls and eight points. Cumberlands is 11-1 on the season with a pair of wins to open conference play.
Cumberlands will return to the field Monday, March 28, when they host tenth-ranked Georgetown. First draw is set for 7 p.m. with live video available
