Kansas City, MO – A day after earning conference honors, Patriots defender
Trinity Brown collected a pair of national awards for her performance in Cumberlands 13-2 win over #10 Missouri Baptist. Brown was named the Defensive Player of the Week for both the NAIA and the IWLCA Tuesday.
Brown recorded a career-high five caused turnovers and was a vital part of UC backline that held the Spartans scoreless over the first 55 minutes of play en route to the win. The Fayetteville, GA native recorded multiple turnovers in a game in five of Cumberlands six games this season and the five caused turnovers is fifth most in program history.
The two-time NAIA First Team All-American also scooped a season-high five ground balls in the win, while tallying five draw controls. The junior native continues to leave her mark all over the field as she added an assist in the game as well.
Brown leads the team with 16 caused turnovers on the season, which is ranked seventh in the NAIA this season. Brown also has 29 draw controls and 16 ground balls. This marks the second time in her career that she has been named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week.
UC is 5-1 on the year with a pair of wins over NAIA ranked opponents. The Patriots return to the field Wednesday, March 9, when they host Truett McConnell at 5 p.m.
