Bowling Green, KY – Patriots archer
Kennedy Sumpter capped off a career week by being named the MSC Shooter of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The freshman notched five gold medals and one national record over the course of three days.
Sumpter opened the USA Outdoor Regional Championships by carding a 515 to earn the top qualifying seed. Not only was she the top-seed by 21 points, she also clipped the USA Archery national record as well as the school record by eight points. Sumpter added a pair of gold medals during the regional team rounds outscoring her opponent 11-3 in mixed teams with partner

Katie Karr for a 6-2 win in women's team rounds.
At the MSC Championships, the Cynthiana, KY native notched a perfect 7-0 record. She went 4-0 during the head-to-head eliminations winning her first three matches 6-0, before defeating Karr in the gold medal match 6-2. The tandem of Sumpter and Woosley added gold in mixed team, while the freshman notched her second women's barebow team gold as well.
Her performance aided the Patriots in capturing both the MSC Outdoor championship as well as the overall team title.
Cumberlands will return to the range May 19-22 when they travel to USA Archery Outdoor National Championship in Chula Vista, CA.
