MSC All Conference Honorees

Bowling Green, KY – For the second straight season, Cumberlands had eight softball players be named to the Mid-South All Conference list, tying the most in a single season. UC earned three First Team, three Second Team and two Honorable Mentions. The Patriots also totaled two Gold Gloves, tied for second most in the conference.

Hailey Wood has now gone back-to-back for First Team in her two seasons she has been eligible for the award. This years, she paces the team in runs with 26, and total bases with 82, led by her five triples, tied for second most in the MSC. Wood is second in the conference in stolen bases with 38, which is good enough for 16^th in the NAIA. The McMinnville, TN native also took home the Gold Glove, the first of her career. All season long, Wood has recorded 63 putouts in centerfield and has not committed one error, the top mark amongst all outfielders in the conference.

For the third time in her career Maddie Sickau finds herself on the MSC First Team All-Conference list. She leads UC in just about every statistical category, including batting average (.378), hits (55), and she is tied for first in doubles with Wood (12). Even with being walked the second most in the conference with 27 free passes, Sickau is among the top-10 in the MSC for hits.

Moving up from Second Team to First Team this season is Emily Bryant. Her seven home runs on the year lead UC and is just outside the top-ten in the MSC. She also has a team high 34 RBI putting her as one of the best in the MSC as well. The Cecilia, KY native brought up her batting average in conference play almost 100 points, to now bolster a .368 in 2022.

In Emily Jasper's three full seasons she has been a Patriot she has been dubbed All-Conference, this year earning Second Team. Jasper has had a career season, breaking UC's single season stolen bases with 48 so far this season, putting her eighth in the NAIA and the top base stealer in the conference. She is second on the team in runs scored at 35 and has tallied four extra base hits, including a triple.

Having the third best ERA in the conference placed Kaiti White on the Second team All-Conference team. White is one of just four pitchers in all of the MSC with at least 65 innings and an ERA below 2.00, hers is at 1.76. The Hillsboro, OH native has tallied nine wins on the year so far with six in MSC play.

Talli Burgess, the MSC leader is saves with five, garnered Second Team All-Conference honors. Burgess has a season ERA of 1.85, fourth best in the MSC. For over 30 innings in MSC play, from the Cumberland U series to the Georgetown series, Burgess did not give up a run, covering 11 games. The Crandall, GA native has the most K's on UC's pitching staff with 87 this season.

Katie Cheeseman is now a two-time MSC award winner, with Honorable Mention this season. Cheeseman was awarded Second Team All-Conference in 2021, but upped her statistics in a number of categories including a .323 batting average, seven doubles, and 22 runs scored compared to her 2021 numbers. Cheeseman also earned her first career MSC Gold Glove of her career, with the top defensive play among second basemen in the conference. The Ontario, CA native had 84 putouts, just four errors for a .966 fielding percentage. She was also a part of 14 of the 28 UC double plays they put up as a team, the second most in the NAIA.

In her first season with the Patriots, Morgan Radford earned Honorable Mention. She has the sixth best ERA in the MSC at 2.40. She had the most wins on the pitching staff with 13. The sophomore has the most innings at 111.0 and the second most strikeouts on the roster at 72, which is in top-ten for both in the conference.

Cumberlands is tied for the third most All-Conference with Lindsey Wilson. Freed-Hardeman and Campbellsville had the most with 10 each.

The Patriots are set to start postseason play later today when they start their best of three series against the Georgetown Tigers. The games will be played at home with just one game today, Thursday, April 28 set for 5PM ET.
