Patriots Remain Ranked Second For 13th Straight Poll

NAIA Top 10 Coaches' Poll

– Riding the longest active win streak in the NAIA at 11 games, the UC women's lacrosse team holds strong being ranked second in the NAIA top-10 coaches poll, announced by the national office Wednesday.  The Patriots earned 92 points and are 13-1 on the season with five wins over teams that are ranked or receiving votes.

UC has continued to get things done on both sides of the field as they lead the country in goals, assists, points, draw controls, and goals against average.  UC has recorded 275 goals, 155 assists, and 430 points on the offensive side of the ball, while they have limited opponents to 4.78 goals against average.  The Patriots have also collected 259 draw controls and 209 caused turnovers, which ranks second in the NAIA.

The Patriots have gotten it done with balanced scoring as they have 11 players with double-digit point totals this season.  Bella Ricchiazzi leads the way with 108 points as she ranks second in the NAIA in goals, assists and points.  Reegan Hensley is having a breakout season with 43 goals and 62 points, while Stephanie Meyer has notched 32 assists, 57 points, and 16 caused turnovers.  Aleyah Belton, Katie Wharton, and Rachel Leigh all have over 30 points this season to add balance to the Patriots.

Defensively, UC is being led by Trinity Brown with a NAIA-best 112 draw controls and team leading 37 caused turnovers.  The Patriots backline of Erin Bryant, Hannah Churchley, and Jael Cobb have accounted for 28 caused turnovers and 42 ground balls to pester the opposition and create havoc for opposing offenses.  Olivia McCarrell has a NAIA-best 4.83 goals against average, while making 69 saves of the year.

Lawrence Tech earned 98 points, including all eight first place votes to remain atop of the poll.  SCAD, Reinhardt, and Keiser round out the top five. 

Cumberlands game with Thomas More has been postponed till April 15.  UC will travel to Indianapolis, IN to face Marian at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 8.
