Bowling Green, KY- No. 10 Cumberlands opened their season against No. 19 Truett McConnell and won a hard-fought battle that resulted in a 4-3 win over the Bears. For their efforts in that game two Patriots, Rita Aguye Cots and Jayden Boelter, swept the Mid-South Conference Awards, the conference office announced Monday.

The sophomore Aguye Cots snagged defensive player of the week after an impressive, 90-minute performance that helped in a Pats victory. Aguye Cots was instrumental on both sides of the ball, taking all the Patriots' free kicks, two of which resulted in goals. In the 37' Aguye Cots' struck the ball, and it found the head of Boelter who knocked it in for a Patriots goal. This is Aguye Cots first MSC award of the 2022 season, and the second of her career.

Boelter earned MSC offensive player of the week for the first time this season and for the second time in her career. The Hebron, KY native tallied six points while scoring three goals. Boelter went unassisted in two of her goals after going one vs. one against the TMU goalkeeper. Boelter is now tied for fifth in all-time career goals at 34. This is her first hat trick since netting three goals against Shawnee State in October 2021.

Cumberlands will travel to Marion, IN on Tuesday Aug 23 for a matchup against the Knights. Kickoff is set for 1:30 and live video is available here.
