NAIA Coaches' Poll- Preseason

Kansas City, MO- After a fourth place finish in the Mid-South Conference tournament last year, the Patriots women's golf team has notched their first top-25 ranking ahead of the 2022-23 season. UC captured a total of 107 votes ranking #21 in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Poll, announced by the national office on Friday.

Last season, the Patriots found themselves in the top-25 on four separate occasions, ending the season at #24. During the 2021-2022 season, the team competed in ten different tournaments, where they finished second, three times.

This fall, the team will compete in five tournaments beginning on September 9^th. For the second straight season, they will open at the Players Club Invitational in Yorktown, IN. Last year the team placed fifth among a group of ten teams, falling short to four teams who are also top-25 candidates entering this season.

The following weekend, September 17-18, UC travels to Lexington, KY for the AU Fall Invitational. This will be the first time any members of the current team will have competed in this tournament.

During the month of October, the women will venture to three tournaments. The first of which will be hosted by Faulkner University and takes place in Knoxville, TN on October 10 and 11. This is one of two tournaments where the women will compete alongside their counterpart, Cumberlands men's team, who received a #17 ranking in the NAIA Coaches' Poll. A week later, you can catch the Patriots traveling to Silvis, IL to compete in the TPC Deere Run Invitational hosted by #25 William Penn.

The last tournament of the fall season lands the Patriots in Bowling Green, KY on October 24 and 25 for the MSC Fall Invite. The team is looking to bounce back after placing fourth during the 2021 season and reclaim the first-place title they held in 2019 and 2020.

Cumberlands is one of three Mid-South Conference teams mentioned within the preseason NAIA Top-25 Coaches' Poll. Cumberland U earned the highest ranking of any MSC team, coming in at #8 and Lindsey Wilson earned 240 votes to come in at #17.

UC is set to travel to Yorktown, IN at their season opener on September 9^th to compete in the Players Club Invitational.
