Bowling Green, KY- Last week Cumberlands faced three top rated opponents bringing their overall record to 3-0-1. For her efforts during this week's games, goalkeeper Georgia Martell earns Mid-South Conference defensive player of the week. 

The sophomores' first outing of the week came on Tuesday, August 23 against #7 Marian. Martell split time with another Patriot goalkeeper and was responsible for four saves on four shots on goal. The match ultimately ended in a tie, but without Martell's unbeatable defense the game may have ended differently. 

In her second outing of the week, Martell dominated in the Patriot's big win over #3 Central Methodist. In a complete game effort, the goalkeeper recorded a careering-tying eight saves. The goalkeeper has allowed only one goal this season with a SV% of 0.867. 

The Patriots have some time off before they take the field again on Saturday, September 3 in Lima, Ohio to face off against #5 Spring Arbor.
