Campbellsville, KY – Head Coach of the Patriots softball team, Bailey Dillender, is set to be inducted into the Campbellsville University Hall of Fame, announced by the school on Tuesday. Dillender will become the first softball player ever to become a Hall of Famer at CU.
Dillender graduated in 2012 and left a mark on the program that still stands to this day. In her four seasons, she accumulated a record of 152-78-1 for a .658 winning percentage. The Tigers won a Mid-South Conference Title in 2009, losing just one game in MSC play that season.
Thinking back on her four years at CU, Dillender remembers her time well and looks forward to seeing former teammates and friends at the ceremony. "Campbellsville was the perfect fit for me, I'm proud of the things my teammates and I accomplished during my career, "said Dillender. "This is an amazing personal honor, but this would not be possible without the great athletes, competitors, and friends I was surrounded by. I genuinely had the time of my life and I am honored to be going into the Hall of Fame."
Individually, Dillender holds nine records and has her name etched 23 total times in the CU record book. She is first in career RBI (215), at-bats (719), assists (581), hits (269) and tied for first in home runs (48). For season records, Dillender is first in batting average (.510 in 2009), slugging percentage (.959 in 2009), assists (174 in 2010), tied for first in games played (65 in 2012) and tied for first in home runs (17 in 2009). The Lexington, KY native was the first player in program history to be named MSC Player of the Year twice (2010 and 2011).
Dillender has created a lasting legacy for the softball program at CU, one that directly impacted current Assistant Coach
Mia Aldridge, a former Tiger softball player herself. "I couldn't be happier for Bailey to receive this honor," said Aldridge. "Bailey made a lasting impact, not only on the softball program at Campbellsville university, but the game of softball itself. She was a part of the strong tradition that created the standard of what it means to be a Lady Tiger. As a player and person, she truly embodied the saying 'leave the place better than you found it'. Her legacy and impact on Campbellsville's softball program is everlasting. It was an honor to get to wear the same jersey number that she wore during my time at Campbellsville. There is no one more deserving of this recognition. I'm very fortunate to get to work alongside a hall of famer."
The Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on October 1 during Homecoming week in Campbellsville, KY.
