Georgetown, KY – The Patriots win streak came to an end as UC dropped today's matchup against Georgetown 3-1 (24-26, 25-12, 21-25, 25-22). Cumberlands drop to 12-4 on the season.
Two Patriots notched double digit kills,
Anna Blumeier led the way with 13 kills, while
Allyson Grava added 12 kills. On the defensive side of the net another two Pats recorded double digit gigs.
Juliet Banks led the way with 25 digs and
Kira Ervin tallied 10 digs.
Emily Prewitt also came away with four total blocks with three being solo.
Kendall Arnold led the passing attack with 21 assists and
Savanah Schwarz added 15. Looking at the serving stats,
Lexi Lester had a team-high with two aces, while Banks and Grava added one apiece.
The first set went the Tigers way as they took the set 26-24. UC responded in the second after a close start to the set, Cumberlands took advantage of some Georgetown errors. At 11-11 UC scored three straight points off errors, then Prewitt put in a kill. Blumeier followed with a kill, then Grava notched an ace to take a 17-11 lead. After a timeout, Prewitt and
Shelby Lackey come together for a block. Grava notched another kill and Prewitt came away with a solo block. After the block, Lackey and Blumeier tallied a kill each while Banks put in an ace for the 23-12 lead. Two more errors from the Tiger gave UC the set win.
Georgetown answered by taking the next two sets to win the match and stop the Patriots longest win streak at eight wins. Cumberlands will return to the court in 11 days for a home match against Thomas More on September 24
th at 2 pm.
