Lexington, KY – In the UC women's golf second tournament on the year, they are leading the field with a combined score of 311 (+23) in the opening round. The Patriots sit in first place of the AU Fall Invitational with a 13-stroke lead over the next closest team of UPike in the eight-team tournament.

Sharon Holczer played her first 18-holes of the season and made them count, tallying an opening round score of 77 (+5) to be tied for second. She recorded on birdie, on hole three, the third longest hole on the course. Holczer recorded par on thirteen holes to help her sit one stroke behind the field leader.

The next three team scorers for the Patriots all carded a 78 (+6) to be in fourth place. Ginevra Capo tallied her score of 78 with a trio of birdies and her first career eagle as a Patriot. It took her just three strokes on hole 14 over 433 yards to record the eagle.

Maria Neira also recorded a score of 78 (+6) to be tied for fourth place. She had her best showing on hole-17 for her lone birdie to open the tournament. Viviane Braun rounded out the team scoring for UC, with her own score of 78 (+6). She tied Holczer with 13 pars over the 18-holes at the Kearney Hills Golf Links course.

Staying in the top-ten was Emily Allen who recorded an 81 (+9) to open up play at the tournament. Over the 18 holes, Allen shot par 12 times with five bogies.

UC's individual competitors are also in the top-ten- Jordan Comer 78 (+6) who is tied for fourth place with her teammates and Riley Clark 79 (+7) who is tied for eighth place. For Comer it is her best round of golf as a Patriot, taking one stroke off her previous best of 79 at the RedHawk Fall Classic last season. Clark recorded three birdies on the course, with two of them coming on the back nine.

The Patriots will close out the AU Fall Invitational tomorrow, September 18 for the final round of the tournament in Lexington, KY.
