Bowling Green, KY - Walking into day two of ITA Regionals, the Patriots men's tennis was left with three of six Cumberlands singles as well as two doubles teams advancing to the Round of 16.
Martin Muller and Robert Wu Hung-Ju started doubles off strong by taking out Bluefield's Agudelo and Suarez 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals. The pair of juniors fought hard in the semifinals but dropped to Marques and Almeida from Lindsey Wilson. UC's Mattis Le Montagner and Quentin Villetorte battled Marques and Almeida in the second round falling 6-3.Â
Of the three singles players still in the tournament, only one advanced to the Round of Sixteen. Two Patriots squared off against each other as Martin Muller faced Robert Wu Hung-Ju. Muller came out victorious after winning the first two sets 6-1, 7-6. After which, Muller was up against the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention from Union, Mihailo Radesavljevic, in the quarterfinals. Muller took the match in straight sets 7-6, 6-3 to reach the semifinals against top-seed Jan Silhavy of Lindsey Wilson. The junior took the first set 7-6 and had match point in the second set, however, fell 7-6, 5-7, 1-6 in a three set match.Â

After winning two matches on day one, Thiago Petry faced Pavel Kelo in the round of 16. The Patriots newcomer battled but ultimately fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to finish the tournament with a 2-1 record.Â
Patriots tennis will be back October 1 with the UC Homecoming Pro-Am.Â
