Bowling Green, KY – UC's Emily Bird was named Mid-South Conference runner of the week, conference officials announced Monday afternoon. 
 
Bird came away with a fourth place finish at the NAIA Pre-Nationals meet in Tallahassee on Saturday morning. She clocked an 18:42.3 time in her first 5k as a Patriot. This marks two top-four finishes for Bird on the season as she placed second at the Berea/Centre Jamboree two weeks ago.
 
Cumberlands earned a second place finish as a team on the day scoring 49 points. They were just three points behind NCAA Division 1 Florida Atlantic University who tallied 46 points from their top scorers.
 
The freshman earns the first weekly honors of her career, and joins teammate Ashlyn Liddle as the second Patriot to be named runner of the week this season.
 
Bird and the Patriots will take to the starting line again in two weeks as they travel to the University of Louisville for the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic.
