Milligan, TN- The Patriots women's swimming and diving team continued their streak of perfect seasons as they notched a 132-130 victory over fourth-ranked Milligan to push their record to 10-0.
Elisa Corradi led the way as she notched three wins while breaking three pool records.
Corradi's first win came in the 200 fly, where she clocked a time of 2:23.19. That time broke the pool record that was set earlier this season by over five seconds. Also, in that event
Filippa Malmstrom finished third in 2:39.27. Corradi followed that up with a win in the 200 breast as she broke the pool record that was set earlier this season in that event with a time of 2:40.60. Izzy Cooksey followed with a second place finish in 2:41.03, while
Ashley Schoenlein placed fourth clocking a time of 2:51.82. All three swimmers hit NAIA provisional cut in the event.
Corradi's capped off her day by capturing her third pool record and win this time in the 400 IM. The freshman recorded a time of 5:10.84 to break a pool record of 5:46.92 that stood since 2014. Cooksey followed with a third-place finish in 5:23.53 as both of those times were at least eight seconds faster the NAIA provisional cut.Â
Hanne te Velthuis came away with two wins. Her first win came in the 50 free, where she clocked a time of 27.47 seconds.
Riley Cerqueira was right behind her with a time of 28.03 seconds for second place. Both times were provisional cuts. Then in the 100 free, te Veltuis touched in the wall on 1:00.37 for her second win and provisional cut of the day.
Anastasiia Shatalova finished in third with a time of 1:02.86 for third place.
Valentina Zapata Ceballos also came away with a win and two second place finishes while achieving NAIA provisional cuts in all three events. She took top honors in the 100 back, where she broke the pool record with a time of 1:05.78. She followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 200 back, clocking a 2:25.25. In her last individual event, the 100 fly, she touched the wall in 1:06.23 for second place. Malmstrom came in third place in that event with a time of 1:10.44.
UC notched second place finishes in the 100 breast and the 400 free. In the 100 breast,
Kayana Cook was the fastest Patriot as she clocked a 1:18.28, while Schoenlein was right behind her with a time of 1:18.69 for third place. In the 400 free, Romy Itzkovich Sacco finished second with a time of 4:48.50, followed by
Judit Garreta Yuste with a time of 4:51.97. Sacco also finished third in the 200 free as she touched the wall in 2:14.53 for a provisional cut. In the 800 free,
Aldara Gonzalez Riano clocked a 10:06.78 to place third.
In both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay, UC came away with second place finishes. The group of Ceballos, Cook, Corradi, and te Velthuis clocked a 2:05.88 in the 200 medley. Cumberlands closed out the meet with Shatalova,
Aurora Stavoy, te Velthuis, and Cerqueira finishing with a time of 1:51.87 in the 200 free relay.
In addition to their meet against Milligan today, Cumberlands divers competed at UNC Asheville yesterday.Â
Emma Lehmkuhl totaled a 166.00 to finish seventh, while
Tori Wells posted an 85.90 to place ninth.Â
UC will be in Kingsport, TN in two weeks on February 2
