Three Top-Five Finishes and an A Cut Highlight Pats Day

Winston Salem, NC – The Patriots raced in the COROS Collegiate Challenge at the JDL Fast Track. UC competed in five events on Sunday and came away with three top-five finishes and an NAIA season best performance as well.
 
Carson Johnson competed for the first time this indoor season, coming away with an A standard in the 3000m racewalk. His 13:54.50 finish is the fastest in the NAIA this season, and earned second place overall.
 
The 4x800 relay squad was also in action Sunday afternoon. Deshawn Crowe and Andrew Barker handed the first two legs before Clay Hogue took over the third. Lonnell Johnson anchored for the Pats and crossed the finish line for a total time of 8:07.44. The team placed second, less than a second away from the first-place finishers.
 
Crowe also raced in the 1000m where he posted a fourth place finish in 2:38.53. Lonnell Johnson competed in the 400m for his second event of the weekend. The freshman placed 10th with a 52.88 finish. Hogue was the lone Patriot in the 800m run. He ran a 2:09.27 for 14th out of 26 competitors.
 
Cumberlands is scheduled to compete in Michigan on Friday. They are attending the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic.
