Seniors Shine On Senior Day as Patriots Defeat Lions

Williamsburg, KY – The third-ranked UC women's soccer team celebrated senior day with a bang as the trio combined for four goals and four assists in the Patriots 12-0 win over Freed-Hardeman Wednesday afternoon at the UC Soccer Complex.  Jayden Boelter and Judit Moya both recorded multiple goals as Cumberlands improves to 9-0-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.

In total 12 different Patriot players tallied a point in the game as Boelter led the way with six points (two goals and two assists).  Moya and Abigail Little tallied their first collegiate multi-goal game, while Carola Fontan finished with five points.  Madison Hudley and Samantha Sokolove both netted their first collegiate goals, while senior Sarah Hammerstone dished out an assist in the win.

UC controlled the tempo right from the opening whistle as Anabel Luedecke found Carola Fontan for the first goal of the game in the 6'.  The Patriots added four shots before, Hammerstone started a transition as she pushed the ball forward to Fontan, who crossed it to Nicole Araujo for the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.  The Patriots netted their third goal before Boelter sent a cross for Little to knock in to make it 4-0 in the 25'.  Moya and Boelter combined for four goals over a four-minute span to take the 8-0 advantage at half.

The Patriots continued to dominate the possession in the second half, tallying 14 shots over the final 45 minutes of action.  The score remained until the 55' when Laura Bosca dished out her first collegiate assist as she found Kallen Fuller for the goal.  Hudley (67') and Sokolove (74') both netted their first collegiate goals, before Little finished out the scoring with her first collegiate brace for the 12-0 final.

This was Cumberlands best offensive output since October 12, 2016 when they defeated Pikeville 10-0.  The Patriots notched 41 shots in the match which is the fifth most shots in program history. UC also notched nine assists, which were the second most in program history.

UC will return to the pitch on Friday, October 13, when they travel to Georgetown, KY to face the Tigers.  Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
