VWilliamsburg, KY – The 13
th-ranked UC women's basketball team returned to the court and were clicking on all cylinders as the Patriots set the program record converting 62.8% from the field to earn the 119-38 win over Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Monday night at the Rollins Center. In addition to the team record,
Kaylie Monday set the single game record for best field goal percentage at 90%, while tying UC's single game steal record.
The Clarkrange, TN native went 9-10 from the field to finish with a season-high 21 points to go along with 11 steals, nine assists, and five rebounds. Monday tied Silvia Veloso for the steal record set back in 2019, while her 90% from the field surpasses Vilma Covane's mark of 85.7% set against IU Southeast in 2019. The 11 steals and nine assists were both career high's for the junior as she notched her second straight double-double.
Jaiden Cox hit a career-high five three-pointers and finished with a career-high 18 points in the game, while
Joy Kendrick notched a career-high six assists and four steals in the win.
Lakin Burke finished with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Amerah Steel and
Kassie Monday combined for 21 points, six steals and five rebounds.
The Patriots opened the game on a 32-point run before closing out the first quarter with a 37-5 lead. As a team UC record 16 first quarter steals, including seven from Monday, while five different Pats player got into the scoring column. Cumberlands also converted 71.4% (15-21) from the field in the period.
UC utilized a ten-point run, including a pair of three's from Cox, to extend their lead to 47-8 with 7:32 remaining.
Victory Fredricks converted a three-point play as
LeeAnna McNulty added a putback layup, before the Pioneers closed out the half on a 10-7 run cutting the lead to 63-21 at the break.
Kassie Monday went 4-4 for ten points and three assists to lead UC in the third quarter.
Kaylie Monday notched three steals and five assists over the period as UC took a 91-32 lead. Cox and
Casey Coleman combined to score UC's first 12 points of the fourth quarter making it 103-38.
Kaylie Monday added a layup and a steal, which was her 11
th of the game with 3:04 remaining. Cumberlands closed out the game with 14 unanswered points, including seven from
Brittni Allison for the 119-38 final.
The Patriots 35 steals are the most in the Coach Reeves era, while UC also grabbed 47 rebounds and finished with 32 assists.
UC will return to the court Tuesday, November 21, as they host Midway as part of the Patriots Classic. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.
