Pippas Passes, KY – The #13 women's basketball team improve to 5-0 on the year after defeating Alice Lloyd 81-64 Tuesday afternoon.
Destiny Haworth netted a season-high 20 points to lead the way as
Kaylie Monday tallied UC's second double-double of the year.
Haworth drained five threes on 5-9 shooting from behind the arc.
Kaylie Monday added 10 points, while tying her career-high with 11 rebounds and dishing out a season-high six assists.
Kassie Monday chipped in 13 points to go along with a season-high eight assists as
LeeAnna McNulty added nine points and four rebounds.
Kaylie Monday notched a steal on the opening possession and on the ensuing transition
Kassie Monday laid it in to give UC a 2-0 advantage. After going back-and-forth
Destiny Haworth completed a four-point play to give the Patriots a 6-2 edged just over two minutes into the first quarter. Haworth added five more points before
Amerah Steele connected with
Kaylie Monday for a layup to make it 14-7 midway through the opening quarter. The Pats went on a 15-0 run, hitting 6-8 from the field to close out the first period with a 19-7 advantage.
Cumberlands continued their strong defensive effort in the second quarter as
Lakin Burke and
Kassie Monday each tallied a steal and a bucket in the first two minutes of the period. Alice Lloyd went on 9-3 run, over a 5:38 span, before
Kaylie Monday found Haworth for three to make it 39-16.
LeeAnna McNulty and
Kaylie Monday each added a late bucket as UC took a 43-18 advantage into the break.
The two teams traded possession to open the third quarter until
Kassie Monday found
Kaylie Monday for a layup to make it 49-28 with 6:32 left. Two minutes later, Haworth drained a three-pointer, her fourth of the game off
Kassie Monday's sixth assist of the contest to extend the lead to 56-35 midway through the period. McNulty converted a three-point play which sparked a 10-5 Cumberlands run to close out the period. As part of that run
Kaylie Monday grabbed two rebounds and added a bucket for secure her first double-double of the season.
Emery Baragona opened the fourth quarter with a layup to make it 72-44. The Eagles went on a 9-3 run until a
Victory Fredricks layup but the Pats in front 77-53, before
Amy Thompson added a steal and a layup moments later. Alice Lloyd closed out the game on an 11-2 run for the 81-64 final.
The Patriots will return home to face Campbellsville-Harrodsburg on Monday, November 20 as part of the Cumberlands Classic. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
