Ashland, OH – The Patriots were competing in two events on Friday, the Ashland University Light Giver Open and the PNC Bellarmine Classic. The men came away with multiple top-five performances on the track and a new conference best.
Ludovico Vaccari put the Patriot uniform on for the first time this season and came away with a third place finish in the 5k. He paced a 15:17.59 for his podium finish, and a new MSC best time.
Kyle Woodward also raced in the 5k where he finished 11
th in 15:42.04.
The other top-five finish for UC came in the 200m dash where
Ryan Long ran a 22.18 for fifth place.
Kerrington Eubanks joined his teammate in the top-10 placing eighth after a 22.26 time while
Matthew Chavers sprinted to a 22.65 finish for 22
nd. Long and Eubank's performance placed them in the top-three in the Mid-South as well.
The UC field athletes competed at the PNC Bellarmine Classic.
Alex Lockhart led the way with eighth place finish in the pole vault. He cleared the bar at 3.85m for his finish.
Troy Grubb was the lone long jumper for UC, finishing 16
th with a 2.35m mark.
Four Cumberlands throwers rounded out the days competitors.
Bailey Muncy came away with an 18
th place finish in the shot with a throw of 11.53m. He placed 19
th in the weight throw as well.
Riley Massey came away with 19
th in the shot put and 24
th in the weight throw.
Austin Meacham came away with 20
th and 21
st place finishes while
Hunter Smallwood 22
nd in the shot and 23
rd in the weight throw.
UC will stay on Ohio for day two of the Light Giver Open in Ashland. The first event is set to begin at 11 AM ET.
