Williamsburg, KY – A 22-4 run to open the second quarter coupled with a career-high 24 points from
Amerah Steele lead to the (RV) Patriots women's basketball team knocking off Georgetown 83-79 Saturday afternoon on Randy Vernon Court. With the win, UC improves to 19-5 overall and 13-5 in conference play, while the Tigers move to 13-11 overall and 9-9 against the MSC.
Steele went 9-14, including hitting a trio of three-pointers, while grabbing a career-high four offensive rebounds and finishing with a season-high seven boards.
Destiny Haworth drained six three-pointers to finish with 18 points along with five assists, while
Kaylie Monday chipped in ten points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Kassie Monday added ten points, nine assists and a pair of steals, as
Lakin Burke tallied 13 points and four rebounds.

Kaylie Monday connected with
Destiny Haworth for a three-pointer to even the score at 5-5 with 7:31 remaining. Georgetown went on a 11-3 run, over a three-minute span to take a 16-8 advantage.
Amerah Steele and
Kassie Monday combined for UC's next seven points cutting the deficit to 22-15 with 2:36 left.
Joy Kendrick and
Lakin Burke added buckets, however, the Tigers took a 30-19 advantage into the second period.
Burke opened the second quarter with consecutive layups before connecting with
Kassie Monday for a layup cutting the deficit to 32-25. On the next Cumberlands possession Monday found Steele for a layup to pull within five points with 7:46 remaining in the second quarter.

Kaylie Monday as the Patriots pulled within a point at 34-33. UC continued to extend their lead behind three-pointers from
Kaylie Monday,
Destiny Haworth, and Steele as Burke added a layup to cap off an 11-0 run giving the Patriots a 41-34 lead with 5:37 remaining. The Patriots added an 11-3 run with five points from Steele and
Kaedlee Potter adds a layup to cap of the run making it 51-38. Georgetown scored five unanswered to close out the quarter cutting the lead to 51-43 at half.
The two teams traded possessions in the opening minutes of the second half before
Brittni Allison found Fredricks in the post for a jumper to push the lead to 53-43. The Tigers add eight unanswered points to cut the lead to 53-51 midway through the third quarter. Cumberlands came out of the timeout with a 7-2 run, including five from Steele, giving her a new career-high with 22 points and extending the lead to 60-53 with 3:44 left.
Kaylie Monday added a layup before finding Burke in the paint for layup putting UC in front 64-57 with 1:41 remaining. The Tigers added a bucket late, however, UC took a 64-59 lead into the fourth period.
Haworth opened the fourth quarter draining a pair from behind-the-arc before
Kassie Monday added a layup to put UC in front 72-65 with 7:26 remaining. Georgetown went on a 6-2 run before
Kaylie Monday added a layup to give UC a 76-71 advantage. Madison Darnell hit a three-pointer to pull Georgetown within two points, however, on the other end of the court
Kassie Monday drove and kicked it out to Haworth on the wing for her sixth three-pointer of the game putting UC in front 79-74 with 1:04 left. After the Tigers pulled within three points,
Kaylie Monday found Burke on block for a three-point play as Cumberlands takes the 82-76 advantage.
Kaylie Monday added a free throw for the 83-79 final.
Cumberlands closed out the game shooting 58.8% from behind the arc and dished out 20 assists in the win.
