Patriots Drop Road Contest to #6 Webber

Babson Park, FL – The fifth-ranked Patriots took an early lead but it wasn't enough as they fell to sixth-ranked Webber 19-7 Saturday afternoon.  With the win, the Warriors improves to 11-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Patriots move to 7-4 and 2-3 against the AAC.

Christian Vanover lead the way with three goals, while Will Rogers and Evan Barton notched a pair of points each.  The trio of Taylor Long, Jacob Bush, and Chandler Muth combined for six caused turnovers, while Gabe Schwaiger scooped a team-high five ground balls in the contest.  Michael Toohey and Nathan Foskey combined for ten saves.

Toohey opened the game making three saves in the first nine minutes, while Vanover netted a pair of goals to put UC in front 2-1 with 6:16 remaining.  Webber evened the score until the closing seconds of the quarter when Dom Lulow found Evan Barton cutting towards the crease and fired a shot into the cage to make it 3-2.

Webber netted five unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead into halftime.  Bush scooped a ground ball in the opening seconds of the third period and on the ensuing possession Will Rogers put a well-placed shot past the goalie to cut the deficit to 7-4.  The Warriors went on a 9-1 run, over a 19-minute span to take a 16-5 lead. Cumberlands looked to rally as Rogers connected with Barton for his first multigoal game of the season and the second of his career to make it 16-6 midway through the fourth quarter.  Nick Kava added a late Patriot goal for the 19-7 final.

UC will return home to face Montreat on Wednesday, April 5, at 5 p.m.  Live video of that match is available here.
