Box Score Lebanon, TN - In a thrilling tennis match against the 12^th ranked Cumberland Phoenix, the 18^th ranked Patriots emerged victorious with a 5-2 win Saturday afternoon. UC utilized strong singles play to remain undefeated in MSC play and improve to 13-3 overall on the season, while they snapped a seven match win streak for the Phoenix as they move to 14-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play. 
 
Doubles play began with the Patriots ahead as Martin Muller and Hung Ju Wu won #1 doubles 6-1. The Phoenix evened the doubles point with a 6-3 win at #3 doubles, before Cumberland took #2 doubles 7-5, giving the Phoenix the 1-0 advantage going into singles play.
 
UC responded with a strong effort in singles play as Mattis Le Montagner took down Pavel Kelo at #1 singles, winning 6-2, 6-3 to tie the match at 1-1. Martin Muller gave the Patriots the lead with a straight sets win at #2 singles 6-4, 7-5, before Christian de la Fuente Nodado took down Prada in three sets to make it a 3-1 advantage for UC.
 
Killian Surmont secured the match for the Patriots with a win at #5 singles over Suarez. After dropping the first set 6-4, Surmont rallied back in the second, winning 6-2 to force a decisive third. After an exchange of points, Surmont came out victorious as he claimed the set 6-4 to clinch the match and give UC the 4-1 lead.
 
Daniel Wessels added to the Phoenix score by taking #4 singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Wu took the second 7-5 to force a tie-breaker, which Wessels won 7-6.
 
Lucas Augotr finished the day for Cumberlands by beating Fernando Flores in three sets. Flores took the first contest 6-3, before Augotr rallied to take the second 6-0, forcing a decisive third, which he won 7-6.
 
The Patriots will use the momentum from this win as they head south to take on the Firehawks Sunday, April 2, at 1:00 PM.
