Kansas City, MO – After serving on the NAIA-SIDA Board for the past five years, UC Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Tommy Chasanoff has been elected First Vice President and has moved into the Presidential rotation, it was announced during the NAIA Divisional Day at the CSC Convention last Monday.  Chasanoff becomes the first SID from Cumberlands to be elected to this position.

Chasanoff elevates to the First Vice President role after spending the past year serving as the Second Vice President.  It also marks his fourth time being elected to the board since 2018, where Tommy served two-terms as At-Large representative.  In his time on the board, Chasanoff has served as a liaison for the Statistics, History, Records, and Honors Committee, with one of the focuses being assisting with the transition from Dakstats to Presto. He is currently a member of the NAIA National Administrative Council serving on the Ratings & Postseason Committee.

"This is a wonderful opportunity and I am honored to be elected by my peers to continue to serve on the NAIA-SIDA Board," said Chasanoff.  "I look forward to working with new President Donnie Smith to continue to build upon the strides that we have made in recent years, while continuing to be an advocate for our colleagues."

Chasanoff just completed his seventh year as the Sports Information Director at Cumberlands and has been active at both the conference and national level, within both the NAIA and College Sports Communicators.  Chasanoff has served as the media coordinator for 15 NAIA National Championships, the tournament director for countless MSC conference championships, and served as the host SID for seven NAIA Opening Rounds. Tommy has been named the Mid-South Conference Bill Sergent SID of the Year three times and was voted the NAIA-SIDA SID of the Year in 2020. He is currently serving as the Vice Chair of CSC Membership Recognition Committee, while being a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.  Earlier this year, Chasanoff was named the CSC College Division Rising Star, an award which he will received at the CSC Convention.

At UC, Chasanoff and his staff have been instrumental in helping Patriot Student-Athletes be recognized for awards at both the conference and national levels.  UC has had 89 NAIA National Players of the Week, 691 conference players of the week, 863 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 1,771 academic all-conference selections, 105 CSC Academic All-District selections, and 61 CSC Academic All-Americans since 2016.

This year, Cumberlands has set ten school records, including 21 NAIA Players of the Week, 129 conference players of the week, and 302 academic all-conference selection.  The Patriots captured 13 conference titles en route to capturing their second straight MSC President Cup.

Chasanoff will serve a three-year term as First Vice President before taking the reigns as President. In addition to Smith, Alisha Alexander (Lewis-Clark State) was elected Second Vice President, while Dale Long (Georgia Gwinnett), Camal Petro (Loyola), Tyler Price (Heart of America Conference), and Jay Stancil (AAC) are the at-large representatives.
