Williamsburg, KY – The #15 Cumberlands women's basketball team had two players set new career-high's, while four Patriots notched season-high in their 120-37 win over Miami Hamilton Thursday night. With the win, UC improves to 11-4 on the year as they converted over 50% from the field for the fourth straight game.
Destiny Haworth led the way hitting five three-pointers en route to a team-high 17 points, while
Lakin Burke netted 14 first quarter points and finished with a season-high 16.
Jaiden Cox and
Kaylie Monday each hit four from long range to combine for 26 points, while Monday grabbed a career-high six offensive rebounds and dished out five assists.
Joy Kendrick notched a career-high 11 points as
Victory Fredricks tallied a career-high four assists to go along with a season-high 12 boards.
Burke netted the first four points of the contest and notched eight points as UC jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Kendrick netted five consecutive points before Haworth hit from the corner off an assist from Caldwell extending the lead to 22-2. The sophomore Burke netted the final six points of the quarter as UC took a 28-2 lead.
LeeAnna McNulty grabbed an offensive putback to open the second quarter. Miami-Hamilton went on a 7-2 run before the Patriots answered with back-to-back three's from Cox and
Amerah Steele to extend their lead to 39-9 midway through the second. UC closed out the half with 16 unanswered points with six different players contributing as they took a 55-11 lead.
The Patriots continued their strong shooting in the third quarter as they opened the period hitting 7-9 from behind-the-arc and finishing with 41 points. Haworth went 5-5 from the field, including hitting four from long range, while
Kaylie Monday added nine points and three assists.
Kassie Monday chipped in four assists, two steals, and four points during that stretch as well as Cumberlands took a 96-27 lead.
Kendrick opened the fourth quarter with a jumper and an assists to Caldwell as the Patriots reached the century mark. A minute later, Cox drained a three to spark a 11-0 run that was capped off with a layup from
Brittni Allison. Cox, Kendrick, and McNulty combined for the final nine points as UC earned the 120-37 win.
Cumberlands finished with 15 three's, which is the most made three's since January 3, 2019 when they hit 16 against Carver. UC's 83 point win is the largest in program history surpassing the previous record of 82 set against Temple Baptist during the 2007-08 season.
UC returns to the court Monday, January 8, when they host Bryan. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
