Williamsburg, KY – The Cumberlands men's swimming & diving team tallied eight wins and achieved 13 NAIA provisional cuts as they defeated Union Commonwealth 144-70 Friday night at the UC Aquatic Center. 

The Patriots opened the meet with Mateus Lopes Cruz, Leon Irmer, Ruthiik Satti, and Arvid Kvorning teaming up to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:26.62.  UC also took top honors in the 200 free relay as Kvorning, Satti, Elijah Henry, and Agustin Rasche touched the wall in 1:26.16.

UC had six different swimmers claim top honors in their respective events and there were five events were the Pats had multiple swimmers clip the NAIA provisional cut. 

Kvorning edged out Rasche by .16 seconds to win the 100 free.  Kvorning posted a time of 47.64, while Rasche clocked a 47.80 to place second. Rasche also notched a runner-up finish in the 50, where he touched the wall in 21.64.

Mateus Lopes Cruz notched a pair of provisional cuts as he went 52.11 to win the 100 back, before clocking a 21.78 in the 50 free.  Zsomber Bene finished runner-up in the 100 back with a time of 53.92. 
In the 200 free it was Juan Ramirez Zapata that took home the top spot, pulling away from the field with a time of 1:45.89. 

Sergio Saldamando Martinez opened the meet winning the first individual event for UC as he placed first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:53.07.  The freshman also clipped the provisional cut in the 500 free (4:50.09).

Leon Irmer went 58.12 to edge out Nikita Konovets (59.61) to win the 100 breast, while Marcelo Rojas Ariza pulled away from the field in the 200 IM with a winning time of 1:57.11.  Ruthiik Satti clocked a 51.27, while Juan Ramirez Zapata went 52.25 in the 100 fly as they both clipped the provisional cut.

UC returns to the pool on Saturday, October 19, when they host Lindsey Wilson.  The meet is slated to begin at 12 p.m.
