UC Women’s Soccer Remains First in Latest NAIA Coaches’ Poll

Kansas City, MO – On the heels of its longest win streak since 1997, the University of the Cumberlands women's soccer team remain atop the NAIA Coaches Poll, it was announced by the national office Wednesday.  The Patriots earned 480 points, including 17 first place votes to remain ranked first for the fourth consecutive week.
 
Cumberlands has opened the season 10-0, with six of those wins coming against teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Poll. UC is coming off a 5-0 win over #18 Georgia Gwinnett, which marked their sixth shutout of the season.  On the year, Cumberlands has outscored their opponents 41-4, while averaging 20.7 shots per game. 

Jayden Boelter leads the way for the Patriots with a NAIA-best 19 goals, while her 40 points are fifth in the country.  Nicole Araujo have dished out a team-best nine assists, which ranks third in the NAIA, while Carola Fontan has tallied 15 points.  Araujo is ranked fifth in the NAIA in assists.
 
Georgia Martell has made 24 saves and a .857 save percentage to anchor the Patriots defense.  The quartet of Rita Aguye, Olaya Blanco, Samantha Sokolove, and Noah Paalman have limited opponents to 5.9 shots per game and a 0.40 goals against average.
 
Keiser earned the final first place vote and are ranked second in the pool, while William Carey, Aquinas, and Tennessee Southern round out the top five.  MSC rival Campbellsville made the biggest jump of the week climbing to 12th as Cumberland is ranked 16th.
 
Cumberlands returns to the pitch Friday, October 11, when they travel to Campbellsville, KY for a matchup with the 12th-ranked Tigers.
