Four Patriots Earn MSC All-Conference Honors

Bowling Green, KY – The Patriots football team garnered five Mid-South All-Conference honorees for their performance over the 2024 season. UC earned one spot on the MSC First-Team, while four others were named Second-Team All-MSC.
 
Job Matossian led the way, earning all-conference honors as a kicker and punter for the second straight season. He was named to the first team as a kicker and second-team for his punting abilities this year. The junior had a record-breaking year, kicking 13 field goals which ties the single season program record. With the 13-16 effort this season, Matossian is now the career leader in field goals with 33. He also tied his own school record long of 47 yards this season. Matossian kicked off 46 times for the Pats, averaging 59 yards per kickoff as well. As a punter, Matossian was called on 42 times, averaging 42.9 yards per punt, the third highest average for a season in program history. He downed 20 punts inside the opposing 20-yardline and had 11 sail over 50 yards with just two touchbacks all season.
 
Adam Caudle earned Second-Team All-Conference honors for his performance at linebacker this season. The senior led UC's defense with 82 total tackles, his third straight year being the Patriots leading tackler. He also tied for the team-lead with two interceptions and recorded the Patriots lone pick-six of the season. Caudle now ranks fifth all-time in tackles with 322 over his career, while his 34 tackles for loss rank fourth in UC history.
 
The Patriots next honoree is Malik Thornton, who earned a spot on the second team as a defensive back. The junior was the Pats leading corner on the year with 22 tackles, one interception, four pass breakups and 0.5 TFL as well. This marks the second straight season than Thornton has earned all-conference honors, as he earned a spot on the first team in 2023.
 
The final Patriot to make MSC All-Conference is Nick Buzzell, who earns conference honors for the first time in his career. The senior started at left guard this season for the Pats, contributing to UC's 138.9 rushing yards per game plus 14 rushing TD's on the season. Buzzell helped the Pats throw for over 172 yards per contest with 12 total touchdowns.
 
Cumberlands finished their season 5-5 overall with a ranked victory over #24 Lindsey Wilson, their first win over the Blue Raiders in over a decade.
