No. 2 Seed Patriots Eliminate No. 7 Seed Georgetown with 6-1 Victory to Advance to Semifinals

Williamsburg, KY – The No. 2 seeded Patriots hosted the No. 7 seeded Tigers inside the UC Soccer Complex, where two Patriots notched their first goal of the season in a 6-1 victory over Georgetown! With the win, UC advances to the MSC Tournament Semifinals on Monday evening and improves to an overall record of 12-2-1.

Collectively, UC tallied 17 shots with nine being on frame. Salvador Martinez led the way, netting two goals with two shots and two being on frame. Adrian Choco and Bruno Marques followed, each netting their first goal of the season. Rodrigo Riveros and Nicolas Caicedo each marked a goal as well.

It took less than five minutes for UC to net their first goal of the evening, seeing a pass across the box from Martinez to Choco. Choco sent the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season and an early 1-0 lead.

An aggressive attack saw UC continue on the offensive third with a pass across the box from Shuma Sasaki to Martinez for a 2-0 lead. In the '37, Martinez notches the brace off the assist, once again, from Sasaki to give the Pats a 3-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Georgetown was aggressive straight out of the gates and netted their lone goal of the evening on a penalty kick. The penalty kick came from the foul on Bart-Jan Braams, making the score 3-1 in favor of UC.

In the '68, Cumberlands looked to push ahead with another goal. A double assist from Carles Diez Herrero and Riveros saw Bruno Marques net his first goal of the season and give the Pats a 4-1 lead.

Shortly after in the 70th minute, Sasaki sent the ball up field to Riveros who headed the ball of the post into the back of the net for a 5-1 Patriot lead.

Cumberlands final goal of the match came in the 83d minute off the boot of Caicedo, assisted by Mario Fernandez Garcia and Marques. With Caicedo's goal, it gave UC the 6-1 victory over Georgetown College and advanced them to the Semifinals on Monday evening.

UC will travel to Columbia, KY on Monday, November 11 to face No. 3 seeded Cumberland University in the MSC Semifinals Tournament. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. (EST).
