Louisville, KY – The Patriots men's track and field team rounded out their opening weekend of competition at the Commonwealth Opener in Louisville, KY on Saturday afternoon. Multiple Pats started their careers in the UC kit with stellar performances, including a pair of NAIA national standard finishes.
The 4x400 relay squad started the indoor season with a bang, recording an "A" standard time of 3:16.48 for third place overall.
Roderick Soto and
Iloba Godspower handled the opening legs followed by
Kerrington Eubanks and
Grayson Rahbany who anchored the national standard finish. Rahbany also won the individual 400m on Saturday with a 49.30 finish. Kenneth Wilburn followed his teammate with a 51.68 400m performance for sixth.
Travion Dotson was the other Patriot responsible for a national standard on Saturday after clocking a 60m dash finish of 6.77. This was good for third place in the 60m finals and was just one hundredth of a second away from the "A" cut. Dotson also led UC in the 200m dash, clocking a 21.78 finish for his second third-place finish of the day.
Eddie Van Wyk and
Daniel Dixon finished in the top-12 in the 200m dash finals as well with times of 22.07 and 22.08, respectively.
The weight throw saw a trio of Pats in the top-10 led by
Lucas Lambo who earned second place behind a 16.51m toss.
Jack Lamey Jr. followed suit with a 14.90m mark for seventh while Autin Meacham finished ninth behind a 13.43m throw. The shot put saw
Dratavyn Barber finish 11
th with a 12.87m mark while Lambo secured 13
th behind a toss of 12.62m.
Brandon Green was the lone hurdler for UC in action on Saturday, clocking an 8.52 time to qualify for the finals, where he then went 8.45 for third place overall.
The 600m run was the final event that featured a Cumberlands athlete in Louisville.
Andrew Yeary was the top Patriot finisher after a 1:24.91 time earned fifth place.
Jackson Lowe opened his indoor season with a 1:26 600m performance for ninth while
Reed Richardson followed just behind him with a 1:26.24 time for 10
th.
This is the final meet of 2024 for the Patriots. They will return to action in the new year on the 10
th of January back in Louisville, KY for the Rod McCravy Memorial.
