All Starters Scored in Double Figures as Patriots Earn 79-57 Win

Williamsburg, KY – The 15th-ranked UC women's basketball team had all five starters score double-figures and utilized a 24-3 run in the third quarter to pull away from Lindsey Wlson 79-57 Thursday night at the Rollins Center.  With the win, the Patriots improve to 18-7 on the year and 6-3 in conference play.

Channing Lewis led the way with 16 points, on 6-7 shooting from the field, and 12 rebounds.  Destiny Haworth and Lakin Burke added 13 points apiece, while combining for 14 boards.  Kassie Monday netted ten points to go along with six assists and four rebounds.  Kaylie Monday recorded 10 points and five rebounds as Victory Fredricks chipped in five rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Patriots scored first as Destiny Haworth grabbed an offensive board and Kassie Monday converted a layup.  The two teams traded baskets before Haworth and Channing Lewis hit consecutive three's to give UC a 10-5 lead. Cumberlands utilized a 6-2 run that was capped off with Kassie Monday finding Victory Fredricks in the post for a layup extending the lead to 16-7 midway through the first half.  Lindsey Wilson scored five unanswered before Kaylie Monday found Joy Kendrick for a jumper.  The two teams traded baskets over the final few minutes as Cumberlands took a 24-19 advantage.

UC opened the second quarter with Kaylie Monday connecting with Lewis for a three-pointer to extend the lead to eight points.  Lindsey Wilson went on an 8-2 run over the next four minutes to pull within a pair, before Cumberlands responded with a 9-2 run of their own, including seven from Lakin Burke to make it 38-29 with 2:38 remaining.  Lewis added a pair from the charity stripe to extend the lead to 40-32 at the break.

Lewis led the charge as the Patriots broke open the game in the third quarter with an 13-0 run.  The senior notched eight points, two assists, and seven rebounds over that span as Cumberlands took a 53-32 advantage with 3:37 remaining.  Haworth connected with her second three-pointer of the quarter as Kaylie Monday closed out the period scoring six of UC's final eight points giving the Pats a 64-35 lead.

The two teams traded baskets to open the fourth quarter before Burke added a putback to make it 68-37, just over a minute in.  Midway through the period, Kylie Fultz grabbed an offensive rebound and put back as part of her four point fourth quarter.  The Blue Raiders went on a 10-2 run before Jaiden Cox took a hard drive and converted a layup making it 77-54.  UC held on for the 79-57 final. 

Cumberlands returns the court Saturday, February 17, when they to travel to Georgetown, KY to face the 11th-ranked Tigers.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
