Haworth’s Scores 1,000 Career Point As UC Couldn’t Overcome the Tigers Strong Shooting Performance

Campbellsville, KY – The #15 Patriots women's basketball team could overcome an early deficit 65.5% shooting from third-ranked Campbellsville as they fell on the road.  UC moves to 16-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Kaylie Monday led the way for Cumberlands with 20 points, three steals and a pair of rebounds, while Destiny Haworth netted 15 points to go along with three boards.  Haworth becomes the 27th Patriot to record 1,000 career points and the second this season. Lakin Burke chipped in 14 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds, while Kassie Monday tallied eight assists, six points, and three steals.   

UC opened the game converting 16.2% of their shots in the first quarter as Lakin Burke netted eight of the Patriots 11 points.  Campbellsville went 13-15 from the field to take an 32-11 lead.  In the second quarter, Haworth notched an assist before scoring eight straight Patriots points to make it 43-21 midway through the period.  Kaylie Monday followed with a steal and layup to along with a 15-foot jumper to as part of a 7-0 run.  Monday added a pair of three-pointers to finish with ten for the quarter as Campbellsville took a 56-32 lead into half.

The two teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter until Kaylie Monday found Channing Lewis for a three-pointer to make it 68-39 with 5:36 remaining.   Haworth found Kassie Monday for a three and added a layup, however, the Tigers extended their lead to 80-46.

The Patriots opened the fourth quarter with Kassie Monday finding Destiny Haworth cutting towards the rim for a layup for her 1,000th career point.  A few minutes later, UC went on a 6-2 run with all three baskets were assists to make it 84-55.  Kassie Monday and Kaylie Monday accounted for nine of the Patriots next 11 points as Joy Kendrick found LeeAnna McNulty for a layup in the closing minute for the 101-68 final.
