Box Score Williamsburg, KY – The #18 UC men's tennis team had a strong showing on Sunday, blanking Centre 7-0 at the UC Tennis Complex.
Cumberlands grabbed the early 1-0 lead, after taking two of the three doubles matches.
Liam Savio and
Gabriele Solda defeated Tanner Ray and Emerson Dean at #3 doubles 6-4, while
Martin Muller and
Hung Ju Wu earned a 7-5 victory at the #1 spot.
Muller continued his successful day with a dominant victory at #1 singles. The senior did not drop a game, capturing a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ashton Whitt to put the Pats up 2-0.
Killian Surmont followed that up with another solid win in straight sets. The sophomore defeated Ty Bush 6-2, 6-0 at #2 singles, extending the Patriot lead to 3-0.
Wu secured another singles victory to secure the overall win for UC. Wu defeated Isaac Flanery 7-6, 6-2 at #3 singles.
The Pats continued to build the lead, taking the final three matches to preserve the shutout victory.
Liam Savio earned a solid 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jett Anderson at #4 singles.
The final two victories came at the #5 and #6 spot as
Pierluigi Cruypenninck earned a 6-3, 7-5 win and
Lucas Augotr secured a 6-2, 6-1 win in his first match this spring.
The Patriots open conference action on Saturday, March 16
th against Campbellsville at the UC Tennis Complex.
