Southfield, MI – The third-ranked UC women's lacrosse team netted five first quarter goals as
Mia Bosah made eight saves to defeat top-ranked Lawrence Tech, Monday afternoon. With the win, Cumberlands improves to 10-0 on the year, while the Blue Devils move to 4-1 on the year.
Anna Lobbezoo led the way with three goals and two assists, while
Aleyah Belton notched four goals to go along with three caused turnovers.
Morgan Terpstra tallied three points, while
Emma Rittman notched six draw controls and scooped a pair of ground balls.
Mia Bosah earned the win behind a nine save performance.

Aleyah Belton netted the unassisted goal to make it 2-0. After UC forced a pair of failed clear on Lawrence Tech,
Morgan Terpstra connected with Lobbezoo for a goal to give the Patriots a 3-0 advantage. Lobbezoo and Belton each added a man-down goal to extend the lead to 5-0 with 4:38 remaining in the opening quarter. Cumberlands continued their strong defensive effort as the Patriots took the 5-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Patriots continued their strong defensive effort turning away the Blue Devils first two shots of the second quarter as Rittman forced a turnover and led the transition. On the ensuing possession,
Morgan Terpstra dodged towards the middle of the field and put a well placed shot into the top corner of the cage to make it 6-0. After Lawrence Tech scored three unanswered goal, Bosah made her third save before Belton notched her third goal to give UC a 7-3 advantage. The Blue Devils pulled within two points before Lobbezoo found a cutting
Morgan Tate for the goal to make it 8-5 as they head into halftime.
Lawrence Tech looked to cut into the lead however, Bosah made a save and on the ensuing transition, Terpstra put a well-placed shot into the cage to make it 9-5. UC took advantage of a penalty as
Mia Rask converts a man-up free position goal to make 10-5 with 8:40 remaining. Cumberlands continued their strong defensive effort as the Patriots took a 10-6 edge into the fourth quarter.
Rittman scooped a ground ball just over a minute into the fourth quarter and Belton netted a free position goal to extend the lead to 11-6. Lawrence Tech added a pair of goals as Bosah added a pair of saves to keep UC in front 11-8. With 2:48 remaining in the game, Lobbezoo put a well-placed shot into the cage for her third of the game to make it 12-8.
This marks the second time in program history that UC has knocked off the team ranked first in the NAIA Coaches' poll. The first came on March 17, 2022 when they defeated Keiser 13-12.
The Patriots return to the field Thursday, March 21st, when they host second-ranked Reinhardt in their AAC conference opener. The game is set for a 5 p.m. start time.
