Patriots Earns 13th Win of the Season Behind 23-1 Victory

Williamsburg, KY – The top-ranked Patriots women's lacrosse team had 12 different players record a point and netted 11 first quarter goals en route to a 23-1 win over St. Andrews Saturday afternoon.  With the win, UC improves to 13-1 on the year and 2-1 in AAC play.

Emma Rittman led the way with seven points, 12 draw controls, and three caused turnovers, while Aleyah Belton notched five goals and scooped four ground balls.  Marisa Helsten added a hattrick, while Anna Lobbezoo and Morgan Tate each notched a pair of goals.  Koral Hadac added six draw controls, two caused turnovers and a trio of ground balls.

The Patriots won all 12 draw controls in the first quarter as Terpstra connected with Lobbezoo for the first goal of the contest just over two minutes in.  Belton added a pair of goals before Ashlee Baker converted a man-up opportunity o make it 4-0.  Cumberlands scored six unanswered goals over the next three minutes capped of by Madison Rupp's first goal of the season to make it 10-0 midway through the first quarter.  Tate added a goal before Mia Rask and Hadac each forced a Knights turnover as Cumberlands took the 11-0 lead.

Tate won the opening draw control of the second quarter as Belton scored an unassisted goal 26 seconds in for the 12-0 lead.  The Patriots defense limited St. Andrews to 3-12 on clears in the quarter and forced 13 turnovers as Tate and Belton each scored making it 14-0 at half.

Rask forced a turnover three minutes into the third period before converting a free position goal to make it 15-0.  Rittman won the next draw control and ran a give-and-go with Baker to extend the lead.  Rittman and Baker each notched a caused turnover as Hannah Yates tallied a save to make it 18-1 heading into the fourth period.

UC added four goals in the first nine minutes of the fourth quarter as Rittman recorded two goals and an assist to make it 22-1.  Peyton Koenig and Sarah Linam each tallied a goal in the period, while the Patriots defense held the Knights without a successful clear in the period for the 23-1 final.

Cumberlands finished the game with 24 draw controls.

The Patriots return to the field Monday, April 1, when they host Ottawa.  The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
