Kingsport, TN – The Patriots men's lacrosse team continues to excel on the field advancing to the national semifinals for the sixth straight year. In addition to their athletic success, UC has excelled in the classroom with seven student-athletes earning Appalachian Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference honors, the conference office announced Thursday. It marks the fourth straight year that Cumberlands has placed at least seven players on this list.
In addition to the all-conference honorees,
Noah Brandt was named as the Patriots representative to the AAC Champions of Character team. Brandt, the senior from Bowling Green, KY, is also a three-time AAC Academic All-Conference recipient.
Veterans Ashton Clayborn,
Dom Lulow, and Jonathan Vanover earned this distinction for the second time in their career. In addition sophomores
Nathan Foskey,
Owen Hebenstreit, and
Dennis Smith garner this honor for the first time as a Patriot.
In order to be nominated for the Academic All-Conference Team each athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have completed at least one year at a college or university. The AAC also recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values the NAIA embraces.
Cumberlands posted a 14-5 record on the year, including a program-best eight game win streak.
