Williamsburg, KY – Cumberlands winter teams have found their stride and are coming off an incredible week of performances.  Based on their success, archer Marissa Harding and guard Anthony Johnson have been named the Pepsi Athletes of the Week, the athletic department announced Monday.
 
Marissa Harding earned athlete of the week honors after a dominating week, helping to lead the Patriots to the MSC Indoor Conference Championship.  The Vestal, NY native opened the tournament carding a 584 with 44-10's to pull away from the field to be the top women's compound qualifier by five points.  Harding followed that up by going 4-0 during the elimination rounds cruising into the semifinals before carding a 29 in the final end to edge out teammate Lilie Aguilar 147-146 to advance to the finals.  Harding than defeated Ava Noehre (Union) W, 143-139 to capture gold.  Harding teamed with Isaac Sullivan for a 2-0 record, including a 157-152 win over Union to win the mixed team division.  The senior capped of the weekend partnering with Claire Garrison and Lanie Nish in the women's compound team division.  The trio defeated Pikeville, before posting a 229-226 win over Lindsey Wilson to capture gold.
 
Anthony Johnson earned athlete of the week honors after averaging 22.5 points and 9.0 rebounds over the Pats two games.  He opened the week with a 25 point, eight rebound performance as UC knocked off second-ranked Freed-Hardeman.  Johnson drained five three-pointers and shot 50% from the field while dishing out a pair of assists in the win.  The Midfield, AL native followed that up with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Bethel.  It was Johnson first double-double as a Patriots while the 10 rebounds, which all came on the defensive end are a new career-high for the junior.  He also closed out the week with three steals and four assists.
