Lynchburg, VA – The Pats concluded their time at Liberty University on day three of the Brant Tolsma Invite. Cumberlands had athletes in six events, including four on the track and two field as well. A pair of NAIA B standards highlighted UC's performances on Saturday.
The first standard of the day came in the 60m dash where Travion Dotson ran a 6.82 in the finals for fifth place overall and a B standard. He qualified for finals with a 6.86 in the prelims while Cam Andrews ran a 6.99 for ninth, missing out on qualifying by one hundredth of a second. Kerrington Eubanks ran a 7.14 for 23rd followed by a 36th-place time of 7.23 out of Noah Kincade.
The 400m dash also saw a national standard performance, this time from Jaysaun Smith. The junior clocked a 48.58 for sixth overall. Roderick Soto also posted a top-10 finish in the 400m with a 49.03 time while Grayson Rahbany ran a 49.62 for 14th. Iloba Godspower followed with a 16th place time of 49.97 while Andrews' 51.02 placed 24th.
A Patriot also qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles, as Nigel Steenwinkel finished sixth with an 8.42 time in the prelims to earn a spot in the final race. Here he clocked an 8.60 for eighth overall. The prelims also saw Brandon Green post an 8.82 for 13th.
The 4x400 squad earned third overall at Liberty. Eubanks and Godspower opened the relay before Soto took over as the third leg. Eddie Van Wyk took the baton from Soto as the anchor and crossed the finish line for a combined time of 3:19.42.
The high jump and triple jump also featured Patriot competitors. Colby Bales came away with 13th in the high jump after a 1.81m best while Sincere Irvin posted a 13.08m mark in the triple jump for 16th overall.
The Patriots will be back for their fourth day of competition in a row as the racewalkers are set to compete at the JDL Flat is Fast Invitational in North Carolina.
