Danville, KY – The UC diving team kicked off the season with a dual-meet against Centre College Saturday afternoon. The Patriots had strong performances on both boards highlighted by a trio of national cuts.
Aidan Crutchfield hit a pair of NAIA cuts on the day. The Covington, GA native opened the morning recording a 214.94 on the one-meter board to clip the national standard. Crutchfield followed that up scoring a 212.92 to place fourth on three-meter board. That score is ranks second in program history.
Grayson Sturgeon carded a 174.74 on the three-meter board and a 183.00 on one-meter board to round out the men's lineup.
On the women's side,
Morgan Schraudner hit the NAIA standard on the one-meter board. The freshman tallied a 180.07 to clip the national cut. Schraudner also placed third on the three-meter board with a score of 174.37, which just missed the national cut.
Teammate
Alexis Cole had a strong debut for UC notching a 179.77 on one-meter and a 172.65 on three-meter, placing fifth and fourth, respectively.
Ella Parke rounded out Cumberlands divers with scores of 155.57 (1-meter) and 149.62 (3-meter).
Cumberlands returns to the water on Friday, October 17, when they face Shawnee State in their home opener. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m.
