Richmond, KY - The RV University of the Cumberlands men's golf team concluded competition at the Gibson Bay Invitational, hosted by Lindsey Wilson University at the Gibson Bay Golf Course. The two-day, 54-hole event displayed a strong 10-team NAIA field. The Patriots' scoring lineup posted a total score of (+32) to finish fifth, while the B team carded (+18) to place third overall.
Among the ranked programs in attendance, No. 1 Lindsey Wilson took top honors with its A team and placed fourth with its B team. No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan earned runner-up honors, followed by Cumberlands' B team in third. No. 22 Campbellsville placed sixth, with RV Midway and RV Cumberland (Tenn.) rounding out the top 10 in eighth and ninth, respectively.
Leading the way for the Patriots' A lineup was Alexei Butchart, who finished tied for fifth after carding rounds of 76 (+4), 71 (-1), and 72 (E) for a three-round total of 219 (+3) with 11 birdies. Pedro Morgado followed in 20th place at 224 (+8), also tallying 11 birdies over the tournament. Eli Fischer and Theo Andersson both finished tied for 30th at 231 (+15), while Saran Jantratit rounded out the lineup tied for 36th with a 233 (+17).
The Patriots' B team delivered one of its strongest performances of the season, placing third overall behind two nationally ranked programs. Thomas White led the charge, matching Butchart's finish tied for fifth with rounds of 73 (+1), 69 (-3), and 77 (+5) to post a 219 (+3) and 11 birdies. Colby Johnson followed in eighth place at 220 (+4), leading all Patriots with 12 birdies. Pablo Lopez Martin turned in a 222 (+6) to finish tied for 11th, while Lorenzo Fiato carded a 223 (+7) for 15th place, and Radney Bales placed 24th at 228 (+12).
Competing as individuals, Reece Keeton paced the group, finishing tied for 25th at 229 (+13) with an eagle and six birdies. Micah Steely followed closely tied for 28th with a 230 (+14), highlighted by an eagle and seven birdies, while Alex Bennett closed out the tournament tied for 43rd at 237 (+21) with five birdies.
UC will return to action October 27-28 at the Fall Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
