WILLIAMSBURG, KY – The University of the Cumberlands men's soccer team continues its climb in the national standings, moving up two spots to #6 in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday afternoon by the national office.
The Patriots (6-3-4, 3-0 MSC) have pieced together a strong run through the heart of their schedule, highlighted by a 1-0 victory over then #2 Lindsey Wilson and shutouts against Georgetown and RV Union Commonwealth. That stretch, combined with consistent defensive play and disciplined possession, propelled UC into the national top ten for the fifth consecutive poll and its highest ranking of the season.
Cumberlands has recorded 18 assists through 13 matches while limiting opponents to just nine, reflecting the Patriots' balanced attack and organized defensive shape. Standout performances from Luca Piazza, Samuel Dolobaipu, and goalkeeper Javiero Izquierdo have anchored a unit that continues to challenge some of the top programs in the country.
Nationally, Oklahoma Wesleyan climbed to the #1 spot , followed by MidAmerica Nazarene (#2), Bethel (Ind.) (#3), Keiser (Fla.) (#4), and Lindsey Wilson (#5) rounding out the top five. Cumberlands' #6 ranking puts them just behind that group and ahead of William Carey (#7) and William Penn (#8).
The Patriots now turn their attention to a pair of home contests this week at the UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex, hosting Campbellsville (Ky.) and Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) as Mid-South play continues.
