Louisville, KY – The 10th-ranked Cumberlands volleyball team made history once again Saturday, earning Head Coach Kathryn Park's 300th career win overall with a pair of dominant victories at the Boyce College Tri-Match. The Patriots opened the day with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-20) sweep over Grace Christian University before closing out the afternoon with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-12) win against host Boyce College. With the two victories, UC improves to 27-0 on the season and extends the nation's longest winning streak to 27.
Match One: #10 Cumberlands 3, Grace Christian 0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-20)
Cumberlands rolled to the sweep behind a balanced offensive effort, hitting .393 as a team with 41 kills and just six errors. Rayne Manning led the way with nine kills on a .350 clip, while Aleksandra Augustyniak added five kills and three digs. Brynnley Bryant also made an impact with five kills on .833 hitting, and Sara Zampedri chipped in three kills and a match-high four aces.
The Patriots dominated the first two sets, holding the Tigers to a combined 19 points while using strong serving runs from Autiana Wilson and Kendall Yarber to build large leads. In the third set, Grace Christian rallied to within 17-15, but UC's depth took over as kills from Rylie Depue and Jayce Braden sealed the 25-20 win.
Setter duties were split between Kaytlynn Collier and Lauren Leurck, who combined for 26 assists and two aces, while Davey Slaughter led the defense with seven digs. Cumberlands recorded 12 aces and 10 total blocks in the win.
Match Two: #10 Cumberlands 3, Boyce College 0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-12)
The Patriots carried their momentum into the second match, hitting a blistering .460 as a team with 45 kills and only five errors. Sara Zampedri led the attack with 11 kills on .364 hitting and seven aces for a match-high 19.5 points. Brynnley Bryant followed with 10 kills, while Alana Shiery and Kara Gipson combined for 13 kills on .583 hitting.
UC overwhelmed Boyce from the start, using a 12-2 opening run in the first set behind Zampedri's serving to take early control. The Patriots never trailed, hitting over .450 in all three frames and finishing the match with 10 aces and seven total blocks. Collier and Leurck once again shared setting duties, dishing out 37 assists combined while directing the offense to one of its most efficient performances of the year.
Cumberlands will be back in action Wednesday October 29th as they host Kentucky State. That match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET.
