Williamsburg, KY – In a match that turned into a defensive battle, a late goal from (RV) Lindsey Wilson proved to be the difference as the Blue Raiders defeated #4 Cumberlands 1-0 Tuesday afternoon at the UC Soccer Complex.  With the win, Lindsey Wilson improved to 4-4-2 overall and 3-0-1 in MSC play,  while the Patriots move to 8-2-3 and 1-2 in conference play.

Morgan White made four saves for UC, while Nicole Araujo recorded a team-high four shots.

Lindsey Wilson notched a pair of shots in the first two minutes of play, one of which was saved by White to keep the match scoreless.  The two teams traded possession over the next several minutes before Araujo put a shot on frame in the 8'.  Cumberlands continued to control the possession tallying three corner kicks and a trio of shots over the next ten minutes of action.  After both goalies made a save later in the first half, White made a diving save to her right in the 44' as the match remained scoreless at the break.

UC looked to strike early in the second half as Juana Fernandez Calvo notched a shot on frame in the 49'.  The Blue Raiders took control of the possession, recording four shots, including one that deflected off the crossbar in the 65'.  White added a save in the 75' to keep the match tied. In the 85', Efusa Asabel netted the game-winning goal for Lindsey Wilson as the held on for the 1-0 final.

The Patriots return to the pitch on Saturday, October 11, when they travel to Cleveland, GA to face #13 Truett McConnell. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
