Kansas City, MO – An incredible performance against DePauw leads to Patriots freshman
Alexander Poulsen garnering NAIA Men's Swimmer of the Week, national officials announced Wednesday. Poulsen garnered this distinction for the second time this year after setting multiple school and pool records.
Poulsen became the first Patriot swimmer to break the 20-second barrier in the 50-yard freestyle, touching in 19.94 to set a new school record and claim the top time in the NAIA. He continued his dominant weekend by winning the 100-yard freestyle in 44.49, breaking the pool record and posting an NAIA provisional cut.
The Birkerød, Denmark native made history as part of UC's relay teams, including the 200-yard freestyle relay, which posted a time of 1:21.43 — shattering the previous school record and topping the NAIA rankings by nearly a second. He also helped the Patriots win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 2:59.07 and the 400-yard medley relay in 3:18.57, both NAIA-best times, and was part of the 200-yard medley relay that broke the pool record with a 1:29.53 finish.
Poulsen and the Patriots will be back in the water on Friday, November 21
st as they take part in the Centre College Invite.
