Patriots Tally Multiple Season High’s in Road Victory; Fredrick Breaks Block Record

Pippa Passes, KY – The #25 Patriots women's basketball team outscored Alice Lloyd 26-8 in the second quarter to pull away for the 91-62 win Tuesday night.  Cumberlands improves to 6-0 on the season as multiple players recorded season-high's in the win.

Jaydyn Carrico led the way for Cumberlands with a career-high 21 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.  Lakin Burke added 17 points and eight boards, while Joy Kendrick chipped in 15 points.  Zaram Fredricks notched her second double-double of the year with 10 points and tying her career-high 15 rebounds.  Fredricks also notched three blocks in the win, becoming Cumberlands' career leader.

The Eagles scored the opening basket, before the Patriots responded with 13 unanswered points, including 10 points from the combination of Carrico, Burke, and Fredricks to make it 13-3 with 7:24 remaining.  The two teams traded baskets until the 5:21 mark when Burke converted a putback to extend UC's lead to 19-10.  With 3:51 remaining, Fredricks earned 118th career block giving her the program's blocks record.  Both teams traded baskets and in the closing minute of the quarter Darcie Anderson connected with Kendrick for a jumper before adding a transition layup as Cumberlands took a 27-21 lead.

 
UC opened the second half picking up the defensive intensity using a pair of 7-0 run that featured sharp shooting and stellar defense to extend the lead to 41-24 with 4:05 remaining.  Cumberlands hit five free throws, while Carrico, Fredrick, and Anderson each notched a layup in the closing minute making it a 53-29 lead at the break.

Kendrick drained a three-pointer to open the third quarter.  UC continued to convert from the charity stripe before Noel Smith grabbed a rebound and took it coast-to-coast for a layup making it 65-36 midway through the period.  Cumberlands closed out the quarter on a 4-2 run giving the Patriots a 71-46 advantage.

Carrico and Burke combined for UC's first seven points of the fourth quarter making it 78-51 with 7:31 remaining.  The two teams continued to trade baskets throughout the period as Aden Clark converted a three-point play late in quarter for the 91-62 final.

Cumberlands returns to the court Saturday, November 15th, when they travel to face #5 Marian.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
