UC Women’s Basketball Climbs Into the NAIA Top 20

Kansas City, MO – After opening the season 6-0, the University of the Cumberlands women's basketball team climbed six spots to be ranked 19th in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, released by the national office Wednesday.  The Patriots earned 203 points to move into the top-20 with the second largest leap by any school.

 The Patriots have excelled on both ends of the floor averaging 92.5 ppg, while limiting their opponents to 57.5 ppg.  UC has converted 48.7% from the field and hold an 18.2 rebounding margin.

Joy Kendrick leads the way for Cumberlands averaging 17.0 ppg along with 17 assists and 13 steals.  Lakin Burke is at 10.7 ppg along with 5.8 rebounds per game, while Zaram Fredricks has averaged a team-best 10.7 rebounds per game along with 10 blocks as she became UC's career leader.  Freshmen Jaydyn Carrico and Aden Clark are averaging 11.7 and 10.0 ppg so far this season.

 Dordt earned all 20 first place votes to remain a top the poll, while MSC rivals Bethel and Campbellsville are ranked second and third, respectively.  Marian and Dakota State round out the top-five as Freed-Hardeman remains ranked sixth, Lindsey Wilson is ranked 24th and Georgetown and Cumberland are both receiving votes.

Cumberlands returns to the court Saturday, November 15th, when they travel to face the fourth-ranked Knights.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
